I run Windows 2000 Professional Edition and IE 6 with SP1. I like it. I seldom have crashes. In fact, In a half hour or so, I’ll have been logged on for 3 days... and the only reason it’s not longer is because I installed software that required a restart.

Every version of Windows (Except ME) was made the same only with bug fixes etc., with the occasional redesigning of how it looked (XP).

In my opinion, Windows ME was the worst (read: most useless) version of windows ever made.
Having said that , I am typing this on the windows box, I can’t say I hate MS. If I hated them, I wouldn’t be running their software and I’d delete my windows partition and just boot linux default.

The reason Me was the worst is because they had to release a version of 2000 early, and they didn’t remove any bugs. Basically , they were sending out a Beta, maybe even Alpha version of it.

ME was not a beta for 2000. They were running on two completely different kernels.

I plan on trying Linux as soon as I can get motivated to drop in the hard drive I bought and install it.
But as far as Windows is concerned I’ve used almost all of the different distributions of it since Windows 95B I’ve used
95B
98SE
ME
2000
and now XP-SP1 which I’m on about my 10th re-install
Most of the problems with Windows is that as easy as it is to USE, it’s not that easy to protect from breaking, and pretty hard for the "Non IT" type to fix. Your average Joe is usually way to intimidated to go searching through the depths of Windows system folders, the Registry and the like looking for a way to fix things.
Microsoft might want to figure out how to make an OS that would not let things damage it quite so easily.

I’ve used all the windows releases since 3.1, windows is simply more convenient for me to use. I can’t convert competely to linux as heaps of programs I use (mostly games) only run on windows. Windows xp isn’t too bad anyway.
